Premier Alliances, Inc. has awarded two $5,000 grants to Step Up Bisbee/Naco to support critical home repair projects for local residents with additional needs.
The grants support the ongoing efforts of Step Up to provide crucial home repairs for members of the community who need assistance. In keeping with Premier Alliances’ mission of “Improving the Lives of People with Disabilities,” the funds are being used to aid in repairs of local homeowners with additional needs.
The first grant supported urgent roof and window repairs for a Bisbee resident. Grant funds from Premier Alliances were bolstered by an additional $2,700 investment from Step Up. The repairs were completed in early June, and were essential to protecting the home from further damage ahead of the monsoon while also improving the safety, stability, and energy efficiency of the home.
“The resident is absolutely thrilled with the results—and so are we,” said Danielle Bouchever, Executive Director of Step Up Bisbee/Naco. “These repairs would not have been possible without the partnership and generosity of Premier Alliances. This project is exactly what it looks like when a community comes together to support one of its own.”
The second grant will support a local homeowner who, along with an elderly family member residing in the home, was facing significant safety concerns due to a deteriorating bathroom. The project will address critical repairs, including failing plumbing, removal and replacement of outdated fixtures, installation of a walk-in shower, an elevated toilet, new vanity and fixtures, repairs to the walls and windows, and installation of grab bars throughout the bathroom. These improvements will create a safer and more accessible living environment for the residents.
Step Up Bisbee/Naco is continuing to work with local residents to identify additional resources and opportunities to address critical home repair needs and improve the safety and quality of life for community members.
