BISBEE — Continuing its efforts to promote inclusion in the community, Premier Alliances, Inc. donated a number of children’s books touching on disability issues to the Boys & Girls Club of Bisbee on Wednesday.
The donation was made following a recent meeting between the leadership of the two Bisbee nonprofit organizations to discuss future partnership opportunities in areas such as staff training and sharing resources.
“The Boys & Girls Club plays a vital role in the lives of our community’s children, and we want to ensure that they have the resources to accommodate any participants with additional needs,” said Premier Alliances CEO John Charley.
“The Boys and Girls Club of Bisbee appreciates this donation of books,” said Annette Flores, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Bisbee. “These specific stories will help our members and personnel dive deeper into understanding our needs and differences, contributing to our ongoing conversations to treat others with kindness. The Club is excited by this collaboration with Premier Alliances, for the greater good of Bisbee and its surrounding communities.”
The donated books cover a range of topics, from the lives of influential people with disabilities like Louis Braille and Stephen Hawking, to learning how people that are blind or use a wheelchair navigate the world around them.
The donation of a dozen children’s books was the third such gift made by Premier Alliances in recent years, following previous donations of books to the Copper Queen Library in Bisbee in 2019 and to the five branches of the Cochise County Library District in 2022.
Premier Alliances is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to Improving the Lives of People with Disabilities. It celebrated its 60th anniversary of serving Cochise County in 2022, and was named the Nonprofit of the year by the Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise in October.
